Look Up Melvin: Music + Nature

We’re inviting families, young people, and creatives to join us on Saturday, November 7 for an afternoon of music, storytelling, and nature inspired by Look Up Melvin. Please pack a lunch, snacks and water for this experience. 

From 2:00–4:00 PM, participants will spend time with musicians working on the score for Look Up Melvin and get a behind-the-scenes look at how music and sound help build the world of an animated film. Together, we’ll experiment with nature sounds, audio, Foley, and music to create a soundscape for a scene from the film.

Afterward, we’ll share some food before heading outdoors for a community nature gathering and hike at Van Cortlandt Park, accessible from the last stop on the 1 train. We anticipate the outdoor portion taking place around 5:00–6:30 PM, depending on sunset.
