About the Event
Budgets are moral documents. Budgets tell a story of what an organization or production values. Budgets can also frequently be the root of harm as they are steeped in tradition and capitalism but they can also be the intersection where transformational racial justice can occur. In this two hour introductory session, “Budgets as a Moral Documents,” we will first define what a traditional budget is and how it is shaped by union rules. After we have established a basic understanding, we will move towards application by walking through a current production and operating budget. Participants are also invited to join the Harriet Tubman Effect community for a larger Equitable Budgeting 4 week session in the future.
