WHO: The Harriet Tubman Effect Institute


WHAT: A hybrid in person/virtual event providing free Edify Justice Advocates training for white theatre producers, creative teams, and industry leaders looking to develop vocabulary and action steps in the fight for anti-racism and inclusivity. The event will also showcase and celebrate past and present generations of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled theatre artists through a live-streamed Youtube performance. People of privilege are expected to come ready to contribute to HTEI's Reallocation of Wealth Initiative.

WHY: Usher in a new era of Broadway and pledge to reenter the theatre community with a collaborative and renewed commitment to dismantling systemic oppression and resisting white supremacy.

Who is this event for?

White theatre leaders, producers, creatives, agents, artistic directors, casting directors, and anyone of privilege who already has a seat at the table.

What are the COVID protocols?

In line with New York City safety guidelines and the Belvedere's COVID protocols, Edify Broadway will require proof of vaccination at this event and participants must wear masks at all times. Seats will also be placed for effective social distancing throughout the room. If you are not vaccinated you are still welcome to join us virtually. Many participants will be joining online for the full event.

How many tickets are available?

For the Edify training there are 40 open seats in person at the Belvedere and 100 seats available on Zoom. Performance tickets are unlimited as the show will be live-streamed on Youtube.

How does participating virtually work?

If you are participating in the training virtually you will be emailed a link for the morning Zoom room and the Youtube premiere in the afternoon. Feel free to join us from the comfort of your own home and encourage others to register with you!

Should I bring anything to the event?

No need to bring anything to the event. If you enjoy taking notes feel free to bring your laptop, tablet or a notebook and pen.

Is there a registration deadline? Can I register on the day?

Yes, you can register day of, for the in person and online session.

Will this event be accesible?

Yes, Edify Broadway will have an ASL interpreter on site at the Belvedere and online in the Zoom room. Closed captioning resources will also be available. The in person event is wheelchair accessible on the first floor of the Belvedere Hotel. Can I attend only part of the event?

If particpating virtually or in person you can attend the entire event or leave when you need to.
